In the last year, an average of 900 animals came into SPCA Auckland every month. This puts huge pressure on services such as the animal hospital and the Inspectorate team. Each year, we see thousands of abandoned, unwanted or abused animals who need our help. In an effort to address this, we are offering our third desexing programme for 2017 targeting priority areas.

From 14-25 August 2017, we are offering free desexing for cats in 12 Auckland suburbs.

We are focusing our desexing programme on the suburbs responsible for a significant number of the kittens coming into SPCA Auckland. Desexing and responsible ownership are the only way to address the cause of unwanted animals being born, abused and neglected.
Free desexing will be available to residents of the following suburbs:

•    Avondale
•    Henderson
•    Mangere
•    Manurewa
•    Massey
•    Mt Roskill
•    Mt Wellington
•    Onehunga
•    Otahuhu
•    Otara
•    Papakura
•    Papatoetoe

We believe desexing is one of the key ways to improve animal welfare in New Zealand, and would like to thank the participating vets in advance for their help with campaign.

Free desexing appointments are limited, so cat owners should call SPCA Auckland today on (09) 256 7310 to book early and avoid disappointment.
