Every year, SPCA Auckland is inundated with thousands of unwanted kittens. In an effort to address this, we are offering our second desexing programme for 2017 targeting twelve priority areas.

From 12-23 June  2017, we are offering free desexing for cats in 12 Auckland suburbs.

Around 5,000 kittens come into SPCA Auckland each year. Although our highest numbers arrive during the warmer summer months, our milder Auckland climate has extended the breeding season, and the number of cats born with nowhere to go is still very high.
In an effort to address this, we are focusing our desexing programme on 12 suburbs responsible for a significant number of the kittens coming into SPCA Auckland.

Free desexing will be available to residents of the following suburbs:
•    Flat Bush
•    Henderson
•    Mangere
•    Manurewa
•    Massey
•    Mt Roskill
•    Mt Wellington
•    Otahuhu
•    Otara
•    Papakura
•    Papatoetoe
•    Pukekohe

By desexing cats in these areas, we hope to prevent a significant number of animals being born in Auckland with no home and nowhere to go but to the SPCA. This will reduce the strain put on our charity’s staff, volunteers and limited resources – especially during the spring and summer months.
Free desexing appointments are limited, so cat owners should call SPCA Auckland today on (09) 256 7310 to book early and avoid disappointment.
