The SPCA Animal Village simply could not function without the help of the fantastic volunteers who donate their time. If you're ready to put your hand up to help, we've got the volunteer options to suit you.
How can you help?

Volunteering with SPCA Auckland can be a big commitment but one you will find extremely rewarding. You can choose to help at our Animal village in Mangere or at any one of our 8 Op shops Auckland-wide.

Our Village volunteers help out in all areas including working in the hospital area, helping with the cats, dogs, and small animals, and working on the farm. In addition, we periodically have Administration or Intern roles which we also need assistance with.

You can volunteer to work either:

  • Weekdays: 4 to 8 hours once a week.
  • Weekends: 4 to 8 hours once every four weeks.

To volunteer in the Animal Village you need to be at least 18. If you are younger than this, don’t worry – there are still plenty of ways you can help.

Other ways you can help

Making a long-term commitment to volunteer may not suit your schedule, but we still have other ways you can help.

Event Volunteer
Throughout the year, SPCA Auckland is involved with a number of events, including sausage sizzles and manning stands at community days. We also have our annual Cupcake Day in August, and need collectors for the Annual Appeal in November.

Event Volunteering is ideal for those people who lead busy lives and are unable to commit to regular days. If you are interested in becoming an event volunteer, please email volunteerinfo@spca.org.nz and we will contact you when we have events coming up.

Rag Fairy
If you're under 18 years of age and wish to help, help us cut up sheets and blankets into squares for the animals and make plaited rope toys for our dogs to use as enrichment toys. This can be done at home and the whole family can get involved.
